When the kids go back to school, the selling season begins

While the internet, websites, email and smartphones have reduced the property market’s annual summer lull, the fact remains that autumn is – and has always been – one of the busiest times of year for the property market.

Once the summer holidays are over, the children are back to school and life has returned to normal, any simmering thoughts around moving house bubble to the top with the enticing prospect of moving into a new home for Christmas and New Year.

It really doesn’t matter what state the property market is in, what the news is, or what interest rates are doing. Home is where the heart is and, when the heart wants to move, it needs to find a home.

This makes Autumn a perennially reliable time to sell: whatever the pace has been throughout the summer, it most definitely picks up in September. So if you have been harbouring thoughts of selling your property, now would be an excellent time to take a look around you. Does anything need repairing or decorating? Can any rooms can be presented to better effect? Can you let go of any extraneous items?

It would also, of course, be the perfect occasion to get some advice: not just on your home’s likely sale price, but also on the current level of demand, and on the right moment to put your property on the market.

If you would like some advice around any of that, we’d be delighted to help.
